Qatari mediators return to Tehran to push for US-Iran deal, official says

Qatari mediators returned to Tehran on Friday to help push a US-Iran deal, according to an official briefed on the talks. The mediation has been coordinated with Washington, the official said. Qatar earlier presented an outline for a peace plan to Iran on Sunday, but a senior Iranian figure rejected it as unacceptable, saying Tehran will keep its nuclear stance. Washington wants nuclear issues addressed from the start. Iran’s position requires the US to end its port blockade and lift oil export sanctions first. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Tehran remains in close contact with intermediaries to assess ideas tied to its seven-day proposal to end the regional war.
