Rapid City Employees Planning Camping, Travel and Outdoor Fun for Labor Day Weekend
With Labor Day weekend marking the unofficial end of summer, many Rapid City employees are planning a three-day break, according to a city employee survey. Camping topped the list: nearly a quarter of respondents said they will spend the weekend outdoors. About 20% plan to do lawn work, and another one in five expects to travel outside the area. Sporting events, fishing, and sightseeing around the Black Hills were also common. Other plans include hiking, biking, or taking walks. Some more specific ideas mentioned were kayaking, stargazing, attending a Pokémon marathon, celebrating family birthdays, and volunteering at the Southern Hills Triathlon. Not everyone is off work—some will work during the holiday, while others plan to stay home, read, grill, or spend time with family and friends.
