Redwire to fly dedicated Starfall mission for microgravity research
xCruzo Brief
Redwire’s Space Microgravity Development (SpaceMD) says it has purchased a dedicated SpaceX Starfall mission to fly microgravity research. SpaceMD announced Aug. 6 that the payload will launch in late 2028, carrying up to 32 Pharmaceutical In-Space Laboratory (PIL-BOX) experiment packages. SpaceMD expects the packages will be redesigned to better match Starfall capabilities. The company plans pharmaceutical research using what it calls Starfall’s “highly tailorable microgravity environment” and mission duration. Redwire has flown 54 PIL-BOX systems to the International Space Station since 2023, with 12 more scheduled later this year.
