Renee Good's family sues Trump administration over fatal Minneapolis shooting
Renee Good’s family has sued the Trump administration over her fatal shooting during Minneapolis deportation sweeps in January, naming the administration and alleging violations of civil rights. Good, 37, was killed in her car on January 7 by a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent as she and her wife joined a daily protest against masked and armed federal agents deployed in Minnesota to arrest migrants for deportation. The lawsuits claim government officials were negligent and seek a jury trial and damages. Good’s death, one of the early major civil actions tied to Operation Metro Surge, intensified backlash in Minnesota and beyond. Video widely viewed shows ICE agent Jonathan Ross approaching Good’s partly road-blocking vehicle, shouting “Whoa!” before firing three shots. None of the agents has faced charges, and investigations have been slowed after the Justice Department withdrew evidence-sharing.
