Seizes over 1,000 domains illegally streaming World Cup 2026 matches
Seizing over 1,000 domains tied to illegal streaming of World Cup 2026 matches, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the successful takedown of sites engaged in unauthorized distribution of FIFA World Cup Finals content. The DOJ said the seizures were carried out across three separate actions during the tournament and targeted more than 1,000 internet domains. The operation is part of the U.S. effort known as Operation Offsides, following investigations by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations’ Washington Field Office and the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center. The action underscores continued enforcement of U.S. copyright law in connection with major international sports events.
