Silver Lake unveils new athletic training facility for students and community

Silver Lake, a town west of Topeka, Kansas, unveiled a new athletic training facility called the “Lake House” to begin the 2026 school year. Officials said the project exceeds $4 million and offers students a larger, more modern training space than the school’s previous athletic areas. Superintendent Mark Farrar said the facility sparked immediate excitement after its grand opening last week and during the team’s first home football game against Roseville. The district’s high school football team competes in Class 2A, and graduating classes typically range from 50 to 70 students. Funding came from leftover bond dollars and community fundraising. The facility includes batting practice areas, weights, cycling machines, and motivational messages, and community members can apply for memberships with a key fob.
