SLIDESHOW: Little Rock gets Bezos bucks for planned park - Arkansas Times
Little Rock is moving forward with 30 Crossing Park after receiving $30 million from the Bezos Earth Fund for construction of the planned downtown public gathering space. City, state, and federal officials announced the donation Tuesday, followed by a community celebration on the future site that included food trucks and live music. Gov. Sarah Sanders tied the project to recent changes to the I-30 overpass and said the city has a once-in-a-generation opportunity. The park’s funding comes after the Arkansas Department of Transportation completed a multi-year overhaul of I-30 in 2024, leaving 23 acres of green space in the River Market area for 30 Crossing. The Bezos Earth Fund, created by Jeff Bezos in 2020, also supports Greening America’s Cities, and Little Rock received the largest share among eight cities. The city’s design firm Sasaki estimates the park could cost $93 million to $128 million.
