Protests in Seattle have intensified around Mayor Katie Wilson ahead of the U.S. World Cup match, with community members accusing her of allowing the Chinatown-International District (CID) to become a “human dumping ground.” Organizers from local Chinese and Vietnamese communities say crime and open-air drug dealing have pushed residents and businesses to withdraw from the area, even though it sits less than a mile from Lumen Field. CID advocate Gary Lee told KIRO 7 that foot traffic and sales are falling, describing the neighborhood as “like a ghost town.” Wilson did not respond to a Fox News Digital request for comment by publication. In a statement to KIRO 7, her office said issues have gone unaddressed too long and that work continues with the CID community to keep it safe and active. Former city council member Tanya Woo said sales have declined 10% to 20% and urged fans to walk to the stadium area on Monday.
