Spain And Man City Star Rodri To Have Back Surgery After Winning World Cup, Golden Ball

Spain and Manchester City’s midfield star Rodri is set for back surgery next week, coach Enzo Maresca confirmed Friday. Maresca said the procedure would be carried out “Monday,” but he did not provide a recovery timetable. Rodri’s latest issue comes after an ACL injury in 2024 disrupted his campaign, following which he later won the World Cup with Spain. Speaking at his unveiling as City head coach, Maresca also addressed speculation about Rodri’s future, saying he wants the former Ballon d’Or winner to remain at the club. The announcement follows Pep Guardiola stepping down at the end of last season, after an unprecedented period in which Guardiola won 17 major trophies at City, including six Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League.
