Texas' Steve Sarkisian defends Ohio State after road loss - and shades CFP for 2025 snub

Steve Sarkisian defended Ohio State after the Buckeyes’ Week 2 loss in Austin, arguing that Texas wasn’t properly rewarded in last season’s College Football Playoff evaluation. Speaking Monday, Sept. 14, Sarkisian said Ohio State “should be rewarded” for coming to play Texas after Texas lost 14-7 at Ohio State in Week 1 last year. He also pointed to Texas’s SEC road defeats to an unranked Florida team that finished 4-8 and to No. 5 Georgia, where Arch Manning threw for 252 yards and a touchdown in a 35-10 loss. Texas ultimately finished No. 13 and was the third team out of the playoff.
