The Week 5 Plays That Stood Out, From Jayden Daniels' Blunder To Mike Evans' Dominance

Week 5’s most memorable moments ranged from messy endings to standout offensive production, with several plays highlighting how NFL teams are evolving. In a 49ers road win over the Seahawks, Mike Evans delivered 113 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven catches, including a pivotal fourth-quarter third-and-10. He beat Seattle man coverage with a feint and sharp break, giving Brock Purdy a reliable target—an adjustment the 49ers had lacked against tight defenses. Pro Football Focus noted Evans has caught 96% of catchable targets and secured 10 of 13 contested grabs, numbers that could set career highs. The article also flags concerns: San Francisco’s receiving group has been hit by injuries, including rookie De’Zhaun Stribling.
