Toys R Us makes major comeback with 120 new stores opening across US this holiday season
xCruzo Brief
Toys “R” Us is set to open 120 new standalone stores across the U.S. this holiday season in its biggest expansion in years. The retailer says the rollout, announced Thursday, will be delivered through a partnership with Go! Retail Group and will bring its standalone store count to 160. The company is using the effort to rebuild its brick-and-mortar footprint after its 2017 Chapter 11 bankruptcy and the closure of most U.S. stores in 2018. Toys “R” Us previously returned with smaller-format locations in Paramus, New Jersey, and Houston before they closed in 2021. The new stores will carry brands including LEGO, Barbie, Hot Wheels, Pokémon and “KPop Demon Hunters,” and select sites will add candy shops, cafés and Creator Studios.
