President Donald Trump said oil prices rising due to the Iran war likely will not fall until after the U.S. midterm elections. Speaking with reporters in Washington before traveling to Dallas for the Republican convention, Trump predicted prices would tumble “right after the election,” but added it could take “a little bit longer than the midterm.” Brent crude rose more than 3% to cross $100 per barrel for the first time since July amid escalations between the U.S. and Iran. U.S. benchmark crude gained 2.4% to $95.25, while regular gasoline averaged $4.22, up 7 cents overnight, and diesel hit an all-time high.
