Trump says the Iran war "will continue for as long as necessary"

As the Iran war nears six months, President Trump told Al Jazeera that the U.S. is “achieving a very big victory,” but said the conflict “will continue for as long as necessary,” with no timeline to resume peace talks. Speaking to Glenn Beck on Wednesday, Trump also described the Strait of Hormuz as “functioning,” while adding that drones or rockets may still be fired “every once in a while.” He said “we got rid of the mines.” Iran and Oman said Tuesday they are discussing a proposal to reopen the strait via a temporary shipping route and clearing sea mines, though Tehran insists the U.S. must lift its naval blockade before ships transit again. Trump said he doesn’t “think” the ayatollah is dead. Meanwhile, Dubai International Airport reported 13 million passengers in Q2, down from 31.5 million in Q1—attributed to disruptions from the war.
