Tumbleweed Raises €6.9 Million Seed Round | Podcast With Julian Rothenbuchner
Vienna-based startup Tumbleweed has raised €6.9 million in a seed round after successfully launching Oasis Alpha, Austria’s first commercial satellite. The funding follows the company’s “launch the satellite first, ask for money later” strategy and is described as one of Europe’s largest space-tech seed financings this year. CEO Julian Rothenbuchner explains on the Trending Topics podcast that Tumbleweed intentionally stayed low-profile, building ties with ministries, suppliers, and launch partners before going public. Oasis Alpha flew in July with four customers aboard and the test mission has been completed. Tumbleweed says pre-certification shifts most regulatory work to the company, making launches “ten times cheaper and five times faster,” while being accepted by SpaceX, Austria, the FAA, and the U.S. Space Force.
