USWNT to face Spain in pair of October friendlies
USWNT to face Spain in pair of October friendlies, with two marquee matches confirmed for the U.S. women’s national team. U.S. Soccer announced that the USWNT, ranked second in FIFA’s world standings, will play top-ranked Spain in October friendlies. The first match is scheduled for October 10 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., followed by a second game on October 13 at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania. A pregame ceremony on October 10 will honor USWNT legend Crystal Dunn, who retired before the start of this season. With no September window, these friendlies serve as the team’s final major preparation ahead of the 2026 Concacaf W Championship in November–December, which also offers qualification pathways for the 2028 Olympics and the 2026 Women’s World Cup. Spain qualified directly for the World Cup via UEFA, and the teams have met four times previously this decade.
