What we know about the investigation into the Bend school shooting

Students in Bend, Oregon, will not return to classes Monday as the community mourns three classmates and a teacher killed in a school shooting on Thursday. Officials are investigating why 16-year-old former Silver Rail Elementary student Griffin J. John II returned to the school and opened fire inside a special needs classroom. Teacher Megan Lambert and students Rhoam Summer (5) and two others, ages 8 and 11, died, police said. The shooting ended when another teacher tackled the suspect; a good Samaritan then fatally shot him. Law enforcement is reviewing devices seized from his home, and the weapon—a Maverick 88 pump-action 12-gauge—was purchased by his mother.
