What we learned about the Denver Broncos after one week of training camp

The Denver Broncos closed their first week of training camp in Englewood, Colo., with starter Bo Nix appearing healthy and confident as he enters a pivotal third season. Beyond Nix’s early form, coach Sean Payton’s comments and practice reps have highlighted an active competition for quarterback roles. Payton said in March there was “competition” for the No. 2 job between Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger, and that message carried into camp. A notable shift came Saturday: Ehlinger led the second-unit offense while Stidham ran third. Payton said not to “make anything” of it, but it suggests Ehlinger is being given a real chance. The preseason opener is Aug. 14 at Atlanta.
