Who Is Ahead in New York's 23rd Congressional District?

With the 2026 midterms approaching, Republicans head into the campaign holding a narrow 218–214 majority in the U.S. House, while two seats are currently vacant and one is held by an independent. All 435 seats are up, but redistricting continues to reshape the map. The Cook Political Report currently lists only 21 districts as tossups and another 16 as leaning toward one party. For Democrats to regain the House majority, they would likely need to keep all their solid and likely seats, win the leaning districts, and flip 13 of the 21 tossups—an unusually tight path, though possible as the party out of power often gains traction midterm.
