Why The Odyssey Is Guaranteed To Destroy Nolan's Ultimate Dark Knight Box Office Record

James Hunt reports that The Odyssey appears on track to surpass Christopher Nolan’s highest-grossing box-office record set by The Dark Knight Rises. The film is based on Homer’s classic and, as of writing, has earned $930 million worldwide, including more than $400 million domestically. It has logged Nolan’s biggest opening and largest domestic start for a non-Batman title, and it is already the fourth highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, behind Deadpool & Wolverine ($1.3 billion), Joker ($1 billion), and Oppenheimer ($976 million). Projections peg The Odyssey at $1.2–$1.4 billion globally, with IMAX 70mm showings reportedly sold out for at least the next month.
