With a healthy Coach Prime, Colorado players look to their own leadership for turnaround
With a healthy Coach Prime, Colorado players are focusing on in-house leadership to engineer a turnaround after a disappointing 3-9 season. Defensive back Ben Finneseth said he has seen Deion Sanders regularly in the program this offseason, after Sanders spent parts of spring and summer undergoing bladder cancer treatment. Speaking at Big 12 media days in Frisco, Texas on Tuesday, Finneseth argued that last year lacked players willing to lead, contributing to Colorado’s 16-21 record over three seasons under Sanders. Deion Sanders, now declaring himself cancer-free and feeling like his old self, agreed that a player-led team is central. He also pointed to progress in spring practices, additions, portal activity, and recruiting. Newcomers such as tight end Zach Atkins and receiver Danny Scudero discussed aligning the group from work since January.
