Women astronauts outnumber men in NASA's new class -- they're now halfway through training and set to earn around $150K with no overtime or hazard pay | Fortune

NASA’s newest astronaut class—announced last year—is a little past the halfway point of its two-year training and has again drawn attention online for setting a gender milestone. For the first time, women outnumber men in the group: 6 of the 10 candidates were selected from more than 8,000 applicants. Training focuses on “basic astronaut skills,” including spacewalking, operating the space station, flying jet aircraft, and controlling a robotic arm. If qualified, the astronauts could be assigned to low Earth orbit and Moon missions. Pay is about $152,000 in 2024, with no overtime or hazard pay.
