Zverev Reaches US Open Semifinals and Will Face Khachanov after Blockx's Injuries

Alexander Zverev reached the U.S. Open semifinals after a 6-2, 7-5, 6-1 win over Botic van de Zandschulp on Wednesday night. The No. 1 seed will face Karen Khachanov on Friday, while Americans Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe play in the other semifinal. Zverev became the first men’s No. 1 seed to play five-set matches in each of the first two rounds of a major in the Open era, and he has now won 13 of his last matches at majors this year. He has reached all four major semifinals in 2025. Khachanov advanced after Alexander Blockx withdrew with leg, rib and back injuries during the third set, ending the contest after Khachanov broke serve for a 3-2 lead.
