Africa Must Take Innovation To Scale | The Reporter Ethiopia

A report in The Reporter Ethiopia argues that Africa’s agrifood future hinges on moving beyond pilot agricultural technologies to reach farmers, attract investment, and deliver durable results. It notes that AI, drones, sensors, and geospatial tools can help detect crop diseases, manage weather risks, and reduce losses, while digital platforms can connect producers to advice, finance, and markets. The piece says the continent has strong ideas and talent, but struggles to scale innovations after projects end. It calls for stronger research and extension systems, accessible financing, skilled technicians, workable business models, and policies that enable responsible private investment, linking commitments to budgets and implementation.
