Air New Zealand Unveils New Strategy To Improve Profits
Air New Zealand unveiled a new strategy focused on improving profits and shareholder returns, targeting flight reliability and on-time performance, expanding profitable routes, and reducing costs while managing spending. The airline said its on-time performance has already improved in fiscal 2026 as it prioritizes more reliable operations. It also announced new international flights from Christchurch to Japan, Singapore, and services from Perth, aiming to support future growth. As part of a cost-cutting program, Air New Zealand expects about NZ$100 million in annual savings starting in fiscal 2027. To smooth cash flow, it is working with aircraft makers to delay some deliveries and spread expenditures over a longer period. On Monday, the carrier’s shares closed 1.15% higher at NZ$0.4400 on the New Zealand Stock Exchange.
