Air traffic control glitch disrupts flights, nearly 300 cancellations reported across country

Nearly 300 flights were canceled Tuesday due to a technical issue affecting the UK air traffic control system, according to Flightradar24. Britain’s National Air Traffic Services said engineers were working urgently and later reported it had implemented a fix and the flight system was starting to recover, while apologizing for the disruption. The problem impacted dozens of departures operated by multiple airlines, including British Airways, easyJet, KLM and Lufthansa, the tracking site reported on X. Airports including Heathrow, Stansted and City in London, plus Manchester, Birmingham, and locations in Scotland, warned passengers to check with their airlines. Arriving flights were not shown as affected.
