Air Transat was named the world’s best leisure airline for the eighth time at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards. The Montreal-based carrier received the “World’s Best Leisure Airline” title in London, and the win reflects a streak that began with its first award in 2012, followed by wins in 2018, 2019, 2021 and every year from 2023 through 2026. Skytrax said the recognition is tied to Air Transat’s commitment to a welcoming and enjoyable experience, combining comfort, high-quality service and customer focus. President and CEO Annick Guérard accepted the award for Air Transat’s roughly 5,000 employees. The airline has operated since 1987, and competes on routes to Europe, the Caribbean, parts of the U.S. and North Africa. Air Transat is also among three Canadian airlines receiving a combined $351 million government bailout tied to fuel costs that WestJet and others have criticized.
