Airline stops flights to major UK airport due to 'escalating costs'
IndiGo has suspended Manchester–India flights, effective August 31, due to escalating costs and airspace restrictions. Rising ATF prices, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, and foreign exchange volatility have driven the decision, with all other long-haul routes continuing as scheduled. The airline will return one of six leased Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to Norse Atlantic Airways, following a 2023 agreement to boost its European footprint. The Manchester service was launched on a short-term basis to accelerate connectivity to high-potential destinations, and IndiGo thanked customers and partners for support while stressing the suspension is temporary. Passengers affected will be notified in advance and offered refunds or alternative travel; IndiGo will maintain other long-haul routes.
