Airlines cancels London flights after UK air traffic control failure

KM Airlines canceled flights to and from London Heathrow and Gatwick on Tuesday after a failure in the UK’s air traffic control system. Some passengers were unable to secure replacement flights within the following week. The airline said the disruption stemmed from a technical problem in the UK’s National Air Traffic Services (NATS) system, which processes flight plans and manages aircraft movements. The knock-on effects led to the forced cancellation of one operation between Malta and Gatwick and another from Malta to Gatwick. With travel demand exceptionally high, KM Airlines said most alternative flights were already fully booked. Services are expected to run normally from Wednesday, though delays may still occur.
