Avelo Airlines to launch Dallas flights from Fort Lauderdale this fall

Avelo Airlines’ plan to launch Dallas-area flights from Fort Lauderdale this fall expands nonstops between Florida and North Texas, with service starting Nov. 19. The airline will operate direct routes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to McKinney National Airport, about 35 miles northeast of downtown Dallas, using 184-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft based at McKinney. Introductory one-way fares begin at $99, and bookings made through July include the first checked bag free. The Fort Lauderdale route runs five times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It is positioned as an alternative to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport as Avelo becomes the launch and anchor airline at McKinney. Avelo also plans additional McKinney-to-Florida flights: Fort Myers (starting Nov. 11), Orlando (Nov. 12), and Tampa (Nov. 19).
