Bird Strike Forces American Airlines Flight to Abort Takeoff

An American Airlines Boeing 737-800 flight bound for Chicago O’Hare was forced to abort takeoff at New York’s LaGuardia Airport after striking a bird Thursday morning. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the incident occurred around 8:20 a.m., when the crew made a brief ground stop following the bird strike. The FAA noted that bird strikes at LaGuardia aren’t unusual, with 94 already recorded this year, and more than 3,800 wildlife-related incidents since 1990.
