Kristi Noem offers cringeworthy take on Markwayne Mullin's emergency landing in a Coast Guard plane
Kristi Noem used Markwayne Mullin’s emergency landing in a Coast Guard plane to highlight her own record on aircraft purchases, posting about the incident with a message critics linked to her spending decisions. Noem, the former Department of Homeland Security secretary nicknamed “ICE Barbie,” wrote on X after Mullin was forced to make an emergency landing at Reagan National Airport on Wednesday with only one working engine and a fire spotted. She said, “Guess the Coast Guard did need new planes.” The Coast Guard, under DHS, had spent $172 million on two Gulfstream private jets during her tenure. Mullin later minimized the episode, tweeting that the crew treated the single-engine landing as routine, and he was seen dining with President Trump in the Rose Garden.
