Britain sent 9 retired Jaguars to India

Britain has transferred nine retired SEPECAT Jaguar aircraft to India to help sustain the Indian Air Force’s aging combat fleet, according to a written parliamentary answer dated July 3, 2026. The UK Ministry of Defence said all nine transfers would go to the Indian Air Force, including five GR1 variants and four T2 variants. The figures were provided by Minister for Defence Readiness and Industry Luke Pollard in response to a question from Conservative MP Ben Obese-Jecty about how many Jaguars remained in inventory. Pollard’s answer also stated that the UK still holds 42 Jaguar aircraft, with 13 GR1s and no T2s remaining. The report notes that many of the retained jets were kept at RAF Cosford for decades as instructional airframes for technical training, helping preserve airframes despite near two decades grounded.
