Porter Airlines cancelled a flight from Victoria to Toronto after a child refused to wear a seatbelt during taxi. On 6 August, as the airline’s Porter Airlines flight moved toward the runway, the child was standing on their chair, according to the carrier. After repeated attempts by the parent and the crew to secure the child in their seat failed, the aircraft returned to the terminal because it “could not take off in this unsafe condition.” Brad Cicero, a spokesperson, told CBC that all passengers had to disembark since removing only the child and parent and refiling paperwork would not have allowed departure before the airport closed at 12:30am. The airline apologized for the disruption, and said passengers were rebooked on a flight the next day.
