Changan Officially Launches SDA Pilot to Deliver Safer, Smoother and Stress-Free Intelligent Driving

Changan Group announced the launch of SDA Pilot, an advanced driver assistance system developed by its own engineering teams, dated Sept. 05, 2026, from Chongqing. The company says the system is designed to make driving safer, smoother and “stress-free,” building on years of investment in intelligent driving. Changan’s intelligent driving staff has grown to more than 7,500 people, backed by cumulative R&D investment of over EUR 7.7 billion, while prototypes of forward collision and lane departure warnings were developed in 2011 and Level 2 IACC mass production began in 2018. A key milestone came on Dec. 20, 2025, when Changan received China’s first official license plate for Level 3 conditional autonomous driving. The SDA Pilot tiers—Pro, Max and Ultra—are led by Ultra, which combines Highway NCA, Urban NCA, 400+ scenario intelligent parking assist and 31 active safety features. It runs on a 560 TOPS chip and a 256-line LiDAR. Changan also says its SDA Lab supports testing across 224 climate regions with 400,000 virtual simulation scenarios and 3.3 million kilometers of daily simulated driving mileage.
