China Southern Airlines will restart passenger service between Guangzhou and New Delhi on September 21, ending a six-year suspension linked to the COVID-19 shutdown and later disruption during the India-China military standoff in eastern Ladakh. The carrier says the return will expand its South Asia network to more than 100 weekly flights across eight round-trip routes. The announcement comes as Chinese President Xi Jinping visits India for the BRICS summit and talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With the Ladakh standoff ending in October last year, the resumed route adds to gradual normalization, following leader meetings in 2024 and 2025. IndiGo has also launched Shanghai-Kolkata flights this March.
