Coast Guard Jet Carrying DHS Secretary Loses Engine

A U.S. Coast Guard C-37A Gulfstream V carrying Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin and 13 others diverted to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Wednesday after the crew reported a loss of right engine power. The aircraft landed at about 1:35 p.m. EDT following a flight from the Atlanta area. The pilot told air traffic controllers, “We just lost our right engine” and declared an emergency, requesting an immediate landing at DCA. The crew reported 14 people aboard and roughly 2.5 hours of fuel remaining. No injuries were reported after responders examined the plane, which later taxied from the runway. The Coast Guard had not released further details.
