Coast Guard Launches Search for Missing Jet Plane Off Coast of Nantucket
The U.S. Coast Guard has launched a search for a missing Gulfstream jet off the coast of Nantucket after the FAA reported it lost contact with the aircraft. The Coast Guard Northeast District said it was “searching for a Gulfstream aircraft” carrying six people, reportedly en route from Bermuda to Boston. The Coast Guard deployed air and surface crews. An FAA spokesperson confirmed the FAA issued a Search and Rescue Alert Notice for a Gulfstream G-100 around 1:20 a.m. Saturday. FlightAware data cited by the New York Post showed a rapid descent from 23,500 feet to 11,000 feet in three minutes, with a final radar ping around 1:23 a.m. Latitude Air Ambulance director Clarence Togeretz said the plane was conducting a medical evaluation in Bermuda.
