Commits £100m to bolster Ukraine's air defences over winter

The UK will commit £100 million to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses over winter, delivering military equipment including Patriot missiles as part of NATO’s prioritised Ukraine requirements list. The package will also include large-calibre artillery rounds and drones. UK officials said Patriot supplies have dwindled and that experts have linked shortages to a drop in interceptions of Russian attacks. Defence Secretary Wes Streeting is set to co-chair his first meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group with Germany’s Boris Pistorius on Tuesday, with about 50 nations providing equipment to Kyiv. Streeting said the UK and other allies are backing Ukraine through winter, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the war appears likely to continue.
