Community's promise to remember'

Andover marked the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks with a ceremony outside Town Offices, culminating in a promise “to remember.” As wreaths were laid for four residents killed during the attacks, a bald eagle appeared shortly after 9 a.m., at the time the second plane struck the south tower of the World Trade Center. Firefighters, police, and rescue workers were honored, along with the nearly 3,000 lives lost nationwide. Wreaths were placed for Betty Ong, Millie Naiman, Christopher Morrison and Leonard “Lenny” Taylor, linking each name to American Airlines Flight 11 or Flight 77 and the Pentagon strike.
