Nigeria’s aviation authorities are deepening global partnerships to modernise the country’s aviation sector, with a focus on newer, safer and more fuel-efficient aircraft. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo led a delegation of indigenous airline operators on a working visit to Bombardier’s Laurent Beaudoin Completion Centre (LBCC) in Montréal, Canada. Keyamo said the government aims to create an enabling environment for local carriers to expand and renew fleets, while connecting Nigerian operators directly with leading aircraft manufacturers. The statement said the visit concluded engagement with major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and strengthened partnerships involving manufacturers, financiers, lessors and Nigerian operators. It cited prior strategic engagements with Boeing, Airbus and Embraer, with Bombardier completing the OEM programme. Keyamo reiterated that these steps are intended to improve safety, operational efficiency and the long-term sustainability of Nigeria’s aviation industry. The delegation included NCAA Director-General Capt Chris Najomo and FAAN Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku, among others.
