Defeated Brazilian presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro and his family land in Miami
Defeated Brazilian presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro and his family arrived in Miami after fleeing Brazil, following 48 hours in which he refused to concede to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and had threatened to seek annulment of the election result. The move came after U.S. authorities said they would grant visas to Flávio Bolsonaro and his family. He is the son of Jair Bolsonaro, who fled to Florida in 2022 after losing the presidential election to Lula. Flávio Bolsonaro, 45, had earlier moved through Argentina and Ecuador. Brazilian authorities’ Supreme Court is investigating Bolsonaro in two cases over alleged corruption, money laundering and tax evasion, and ordered him to hand over passports. The AP reported the family entered Argentina late Tuesday, then boarded a private charter and later landed in Miami around 9:30 a.m. EST.
