Delta Air Lines Is Quietly Cutting Domestic Routes To Fund Its Premium International Push
Delta Air Lines has filed schedule changes for September 2026 that remove seven domestic routes between early November 2026 and early January 2027 as it funds a push into premium international flying. Five of the cuts hit New York and Las Vegas. The filings also suspend LaGuardia–Nassau and a once-weekly Atlanta–Anchorage winter service rather than fully eliminating them. The airline says it’s making ongoing adjustments to match customer demand but provides no route-specific rationale. The changes cluster around three patterns: softer Las Vegas demand, some routes Delta serving at lower frequencies than competitors, and a shift of New York short-haul flying from JFK to LaGuardia. Delta is adding capacity at select airports, including Los Angeles–Philadelphia and a return to Tokyo Narita from Seattle.
