Die in plane crash departing moose camp near Aniak

Two people were killed Tuesday when their plane crashed while departing a moose camp near Aniak, Alaska. Alaska State Troopers said they received a report around 12:20 p.m. that a Cessna 185 had gone down near the mid-Kuskokwim River community of Aniak. Federal aviation records suggest the aircraft crashed in a wooded area near the village, though the circumstances were not yet known. The crash site was about 30 miles southeast of Aniak, according to the NTSB. The pilot and a single passenger were the only people aboard. They were identified as 34-year-old Nicholas Peters of Eagle River and 50-year-old John “Jack” Ervin of Missouri.
