Direct flights between Ljubljana and Newark to start next year
xCruzo Brief
United Airlines says it will launch the first direct flight from Slovenia to the United States in 40 years, connecting Ljubljana to Newark, New Jersey, starting in 2027. The airline announced the route in May 2027 and plans to operate it four times per week. The article notes that the last Ljubljana–New York service was operated by JAT between the late 1970s and spring 1991, when Slovenia separated from Yugoslavia. Ljubljana will become United’s third destination in the former Yugoslavia, alongside Dubrovnik and Split. The Newark route is part of what United calls its largest expansion in history, adding 10 destinations, including Okinawa, Toulouse, Luxembourg, Marseille, Ibiza, Valencia, Terceira, Olbia and Catania.
