Domestic airfares drop slightly as jet fuel prices decline
Domestic airfares drop slightly as jet fuel prices decline, providing limited relief for travelers despite the government not passing on fuel benefits to consumers. The article reports that one-way fares on key domestic routes have fallen after jet fuel prices decreased back toward pre-February 28 war-era levels. On the Islamabad–Quetta sector, tickets range from Rs 16,770 to Rs 48,890; Lahore–Quetta from Rs 12,020 to Rs 44,140; and Karachi–Quetta from Rs 13,603 to Rs 44,000. Aviation sources say each fare includes an average fuel surcharge of Rs 7,840 charged separately, plus Rs 26,755 in government taxes and levies. For ordinary travel days, that totals more than Rs 26,000, while peak or urgent bookings can reach Rs 58,875. The highest prices are recorded on Quetta–Islamabad and Karachi–Islamabad.
