EasyJet expands Glasgow base with seventh aircraft and three new routes
xCruzo Brief
easyJet is expanding its Glasgow base with a seventh aircraft, adding capacity for three new summer routes to Pisa, Malta and Sharm El Sheikh. The new 186-seat Airbus A320 supports what the airline calls its largest-ever summer programme from Scotland. The move increases easyJet’s Scottish fleet to 17 based aircraft and strengthens a network of more than 100 routes serving 24 countries. From Scotland, the carrier already operates over 100 routes, connecting travelers across Europe and North Africa. easyJet’s UK country manager Kevin Doyle said the growth backs skilled jobs and boosts connectivity for Scotland, while Glasgow Airport managing director Gavin Birch-Williams described the aircraft as a milestone and a vote of confidence.
