End of an era: Fiji Airways cancels direct Canberra-Nadi route after three years

Fiji Airways is ending its direct Canberra–Nadi route after three years, citing market conditions and weaker demand for onward travel to Los Angeles. The airline said it will suspend services effective 5 February 2027. Its last flight from Canberra will be on 31 January, while travellers booked after that date were told they can fly to Fiji via the airline’s daily Sydney–Nadi services, which many Canberra passengers already use. The route was introduced with a ceremony three years ago and initially ran three times a week with fares from $539. Canberra Airport linked the challenge to global uncertainty, higher fuel prices and softer demand to the US, and said the service continues until 5 February 2027.
