ERA ONE Gets RFNBO Certification for Green E-Fuel | Fuel Cells Works
INERATEC’s ERA ONE has received ISCC EU certification under the Renewable Energy Directive (EU) 2018/2001 (RED III), marking a major regulatory milestone for green e-fuels. The certification makes ERA ONE the first Power-to-Liquid plant in the world whose synthetic fuels are fully recognized as RFNBO, or renewable fuels of non-biological origin. With the ISCC EU label, ERA ONE’s fuels can be counted toward binding RFNBO sub-targets in transport, aviation, and industry. The company says ERA ONE produces up to 2,500 tons of e-fuels per year at Industriepark Frankfurt-Höchst in Germany and claims at least 70% lower greenhouse-gas emissions versus fossil fuels across the lifecycle. The plant received the certification as EU RED III begins phasing in RFNBO mandates, and INERATEC points to June 2026 use of ERA ONE fuel on a passenger flight from Amsterdam to Hamburg via existing infrastructure. IN early 2027, the firm plans to install and certify upgrading units to extend the certified value chain.
