FAA investigates close call between 2 aircraft that forced Delta flight to abort landing
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a close call between two commercial aircraft at Boston Logan International Airport on Saturday morning that forced a Delta Air Lines flight to abort landing. According to the FAA and flight logs, a Delta flight from Dallas executed a go-around to avoid an American Airlines aircraft departing from an intersecting runway. A Delta spokesperson said the crew of Delta flight 2351 coordinated with air traffic control, and the aircraft—carrying 129 passengers and six crew members—landed safely and deplaned normally. Requests for comment from American Airlines and the airport were directed to the FAA. The FAA said go-arounds are safe, routine procedures conducted at the discretion of the pilot or air traffic controllers. The incident follows several recent aviation accidents mentioned in the report, including crashes in France, Laredo, Texas, and California, along with a skydiving-related crash in Missouri.
